With a week to go before the big day, we’re reflecting on a festive December at Team Fostering.

As always, the agency organised a range of events and activities for foster carers, children and young people and these have been extremely well-attended. This has included Christmas parties, pantomime visits and ice-skating! The agency has also spent some time teaming up with great local causes and organisations to help others in need this festive season.

In Sheffield, our office was a registered drop-off point for Hallam FM’s Mission Christmas, where we welcomed a large number of donated toys and gifts for children in need across South Yorkshire. This was organised by Placements Officer Rachel Dawes and the campaign was greatly supported by our foster carers, staff and members of the public near to our office. We collected an impressive number of donations and this will truly help improve Christmas for those in need.

In the North East, Placements Officer Allison Poyzer arranged several collections including for Hebburn Helps and Footprints in the Community. The North East team of foster carers and staff collected a large number of selection boxes, hats and scarves, supported with a toy appeal for children and young people that are less fortunate at Christmas. These were successful collections and will truly make a difference.

We would like to thank our foster carers, staff and everybody else who donated to our collections this year, or indeed to similar collections nationwide! Coming together at Christmas to give to those who are in need is so important, and we’re so grateful for the support we’ve received. Have a very Merry Christmas!

Team Fostering is an independent, not-for-profit fostering agency that is dedicated to putting children’s futures first. Any surplus made is reinvested back into the support that is given to foster carers, children and young people to ensure that the very best possible outcomes are achieved. Our staff and foster carers share our values, and they often organise collections or campaigns in partnership with local causes to further enhance our ethical status and make a difference to those in need. If you’re interested in joining us as a foster carer, get in touch to learn more about the fees, training and support you would be entitled to.
