What is there to do at Team Fostering?

At Team Fostering there are loads of activities, events, groups and life skills activities to keep you busy.

They’re a great opportunity to hang out with friends, make new ones and help you gain new skills for the future.

Choose your region from the drop down below to see this year’s activities, groups, events and life skills opportunities. If you’re not sure what region you’re in, your carer will be able to let you know.

If you’d like to get involved in any of these you can ask your carer to email the Education and Support Service team and we’ll be able to book you a spot.

Children of Foster Carers Support – open to all children who support their parents to foster

Team Fantastic – a great opportunity for all ages to meet up with friends, take part in activities, enjoy some food and have a laugh

Sanctuary Seeking Support Group – a welcoming group for our sanctuary seeking children

Project Listen – our young person’s focus group where you get to have your say in how we run Team Fostering. You’ll hear about upcoming changes, be able to share your ideas and opinions, help improve the experiences of others in care and try some fun activities at the same time. Some of the things the group has got involved with include making a video and leaflet to explain advocacy, interviewing new members of staff, foster carer training, presenting at the annual Celebration of Achievements event and contributing to the children’s welcome pack.

Life Skills

A new package of support for 2026 will provide hands on opportunities and experiences to help prepare you for life after care. This includes:

  • Life Skills BBQ
  • Life Skills Christmas dinner
  • Volunteers programme including National Trust: Clumber Park and Longshaw, Brierly Forest parkrun and Care Home Christmas Party
  • Wellbeing sessions including Dreams and Wonders workshop, Team Adventure river trip and Risk Reduction workshop
  • Work taster sessions in hospitality and construction

Team Fantastic – a group for children aged 6-12 with a fun activity planned 3 x a year

Teamies – an opportunity for teenagers aged 12+ to meet up each month, enjoy some activities and to share their experiences and shape the future of Team Fostering

Life Skills

If you’re in year 10 or moving into year 10 in September 2026 there’s lots of support to help you build skills for the future.

One-to-one sessions – provide personalised support to help with whatever you need, including things like CV writing and higher education applications, money management and independent living skills

Group work – learn new skills whilst having fun with friends with activities like Master Chef, first aid, escape rooms, ice skating and outward bound survival.

Skills 2 Thrive is a digital platform designed to empower young people to thrive as they transition out of care.

It’s full of engaging video-led content created by care-experienced people on essential life skills and practical guidance.
