Your journey
Our Panel
Upon completion of your Form F you will be invited to our Foster Panel meeting, where your report is presented and you can meet our Foster Panel members.
Located in the North East, Yorkshire and East Midlands
We have panels in the North East and Yorkshire and East Midlands regions. These panels serve various purposes, including assessing fostering applications and providing recommendations to the agency regarding applicants’ suitability for fostering.
Who makes up the panel?
The panel consists of one or two vice chairs, a director from Team Fostering, two social workers employed by the agency, independent members, a solicitor, someone with recent fostering experience, someone with experience of being a looked after child, someone with professional experience in education, and a medical advisor.
Panel proceedings
Chaired by a designated independent chairperson, the panel discusses applicants’ approvals. Your Assessing Social Worker presents your assessment, addressing any queries from the panel. You may also be asked questions and have the opportunity to ask your own. An administrator takes minutes during the meeting.
Outcome and approval process
Following Panel, members make a recommendation to the Agency Decision Maker about your suitability to foster, who then confirms your approval as a foster carer/s with Team Fostering. You will be notified of the Agency Decision Maker’s decision in writing.
