Joining Fatima Whitbread in her call for more foster carers

Team Fostering is joining Fatima Whitbread in calling for more foster carers in the North East, Yorkshire and the East Midlands.

This follows the release of a new book by Fatima – My Bright Shining Star – which talks about her time in care. It supplements a UK campaign which highlights the importance of giving children the love and support they need for successful futures.

Team Fostering CEO Kathryn Hayes said:

“We were delighted to see Fatima Whitbread highlighting the need for more foster carers this morning and particularly the importance of ensuring positive outcomes for children after they leave care.

“As a not-for-profit fostering agency we’re incredibly passionate about this. Any of our surplus money goes directly to support our children – including a programme of activities to build their confidence, educational support to make sure every one achieves their full potential, awards which celebrate even the smallest victories and teaching life skills which prepare them for the future.

“We believe every child has the opportunity to shine but we need thousands more foster carers to help us achieve this.”

Team Fostering foster carer Ricardo added: “I agree with Fatima Whitbread – we need more carers to help young people succeed.

“As a foster carer, I try to provide a safe, loving home where kids can feel supported and reach their goals. That means helping with school, finding their passions, and teaching them life skills.

“Every child deserves a chance to shine. I’m glad to be part of making that happen.”
